Ever since its inception, CDI has partnered with Christian brothers and sisters in the work of discipleship around the world. In fact, CDI’s ministry was begun in large part due to a request for discipleship materials and curriculum for new believers in India and Africa following evangelistic crusades by CDI’s founder, Dr. Bill Piper. The work of discipleship that started over three decades ago is going strong today in many countries.
One of the first initiatives of CDI President Jason Little has been to increase communication with international ministry partners to evaluate their progress, needs and opportunities. Nearly 30 international ministry partners from Liberia, Haiti, Nepal, the Philippines, India, and many other locations have responded with updated information, ministry reports and fresh excitement for the work God is doing.
While in Haiti leading a men’s retreat in April, Jason was able to meet with Predestin Herard, a CDI ministry partner serving in Port-au-Prince. In addition to pastoring a local church, Pastor Herard serves as the president of a seminary, the leader of an organization of nearly 90 other churches, and the overseer of an orphanage with nearly 300 children. Pastor Herard has used CDI courses in personal discipleship as well as part of the seminary curriculum.
Pastor Joseph Sikuku from Kenya reports that dozens of students in his ministry have finished a CDI course. When they successfully complete a course, he has awarded them with certificates of recognition. Another ministry partner in Malawi, Africa is in regular correspondence with 40 men who desire training for pastoral ministry. The encouraging reports and the opportunities are endless. Please pray with the CDI staff and board as we continue to deepen these relationships and consider how we can be most effective in partnering together for future ministry.
Over the last month we have also received permission to reformat some excellent existing discipleship curriculum into our online learning management system. It is our desire that by making this material available in an online, interactive format, many more churches and individual Christians will be equipped to make disciples. We are looking forward to releasing this new content very soon.
Corresponding with this opportunity, we have an immediate need for IT staff members or volunteers to assist with formatting new online courses. If you are available to give a few hours each week for this purpose, please complete our online volunteer registration form, and we will respond with more information.
As a reminder, CDI will host its First Annual Golf Tournament on Oct. 14, 2016 at Green Valley Country Club. More details will be coming soon, but this is shaping up to be a fantastic one-day event at one of the nicest courses in the Greenville, SC area.
We are so appreciative to those who are faithfully giving to support the ongoing work and the growing vision of CDI. We don’t take your assistance for granted, and we thank you for entrusting us in this way. If you are not currently giving, please consider partnering with us through a one-time or recurring gift.
If you are unable to give, please commit to pray for the growth and development of CDI. As always, we would also love to hear from you. Feel free to contact us anytime with thoughts or questions. Thank you for your support!
